My name is Cova Orgaz, and I live and work in the north of Spain.
I am very much in favor of Here and now, it is a mantra for me, which helps me combat my impatience.
I think that people who make art in the contemporary world have more freedom. In general terms more freedom of materials, of ideas, of channels of expression. Also, at the same time, we have the possibility of being spectators of the artistic freedoms of others, and this is very inspiring.
I work specifically with cardboard. Since I can remember I have materialized all my ideas with cardboard sketches. From my own toys as a child, to my projects as a sculptor, were cardboard models. Cardboard was my assistant and eventually became the main material with which I love to work and sculpt my works.
I am growing a lot in my career as a professional cardboard sculptor. I exhibit in art galleries and international fairs. I'm in a good moment and I have a lot of growing to do.
I studied sculpture in all its disciplines, I know how to model, carve, build... and this knowledge has helped me a lot to develop my own cardboard sculpture technique. Cardboard is a stubborn material who refuses to obey and I love that because it brings its own personality to the artwork.
I sincerely believe that I was born to sculpt, I have a construction soul. I think in volume, I understand things when I touch them, I understand how things work when I see their anatomy. My world is physicality, the sense of touch.
There is a dilemma that I have seen a lot around me and in myself, the search for one's own style. I think you have to flow with this. You already have your own style, just let it appear. With perseverance, your own style will become more defined and will eventually be unmistakable.
