Lucca Biennale Cartasia

FILTER BY SECTION:

Together with art, fashion is one of the creative fields where research on new materials is always taken to extreme. Constantly pushing the limits and the quest to identify new textile structures has encouraged designers to experiment and use unusual materials such as paper. Paper clothes and jewels have therefore become are exceptional alternatives to traditional materials. Their resistance and lightness set them apart from classic clothes and accessories, making it possible to create real wearable works of art. This is at the heart of the Lucca Biennale Cartasia Fashion section.

GIACOMO PECCHIA

What do we mean by Paper Fashion?
Anything that has to do with the world of fashion, linked to designing and making a dress, a costume a jewel. Many of the featured creations are truly wearable and several of LuBiCa’s artists have already taken part in traditional fashion shows.

FASHION SECTION THEME -XI EDTION 2022: “THE WHITE PAGE”

What does a white page represent?
Endless possibilities. A different future, a dream that can come true, an ambition, a different perspective, an alternative to daily routine. A blank page gives us the feeling of being able to sketch out a new, different, better world.
At the same time, a white piece of paper can represent the anxiety of it all, the negative possibilities, the unexpected implications and a leap in the dark. An inability to act.

It is a bridge between the past and the future, it is an opportunity for free writing or the anguish of the unknown, it is the courage of making a choice or the loss of one’s comfort zone.
