The IX edition of Lucca Biennale Cartasia centers around the theme of Chaos and Silence. In our times, the excess of social stimuli, news, and surplus of information paralyzes human beings, placing individuals in a state where every input is perceived as the same. The enormous amount of stress we are subjected to, makes it difficult for us to comprehend the quality of each stimulus. The reading of the world becomes confused and indecipherable. The quest for silence, clarity, peace, is vital for man and for contemporary society to contrast such a chaotic development.
On the other hand, silence can also mean being isolated, disconnected, and being unavailable to engage with others. This is when continuous movement, when constant and dynamic development and when relationships between individual minds, can transform chaos into a creative possibility. Chaos as the indication of an extremely vital, reactive, multiform, interconnected body similar to that of today’s society.
